I was thinking that it may be interesting to study the combined performance of the two funds. Most financial advisers suggest having some bond exposure in your investment portfolio. Combining the returns of both FGMNX and FNMIX could provide excellent bond exposure to your portfolio while keeping risk to reasonable levels. It would be a simple strategy to deposit equal amounts into each bond fund. This could also provide consistent monthly dividends for those looking at fixed income investments.
